The Chilbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan

The Chilbury Ladies' Choir was initially a bit of a slow burner for me but once it gripped me I was completely enchanted.  Thanks to Tina of Novel Meals for her recommendation.

I don't normally like multiple points of view but in this case it was handled very skilfully with the device of each point of view being expressed in a journal or a letter.

I recommend this book to you.  It is no an aga saga.  It’s a moving (and uplifting) story of how a small village coped when most of the men were away fighting in WWII.

If you liked The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, I'm sure you'll love this one.

  1. I am so glad you liked it! It did start off a bit slowish but I loved this book too. Thanks for the mention and link :-)

  2. Glad you liked it! I'm the same way with multiple POVs. I normally don't like them, but if they are done well, then it works
