Food on Friday: Using Leftovers

ON

Somewhere in my past, I clearly picked up some thrifty habits because I really do not like wasting food.  So for this Food on Friday we are focusing on dishes which use leftovers!
To add your dish using leftovers, just put the name of the dish together with your blog name/name into the first Mr Linky box you will find below.  Then paste the url for your post about it into the second box.
I'll be pinning the links to this Pinboard – this is a quick way for you to scan the dishes and choose which ones you want to check out in more detail.
Have fun making an inspirational collection of dishes!

  1. Great Idea! Wish my recipe was for a more "traditional" sort of leftover, what I posted was all I had.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. I had some leftover polenta so I made vinegar chicken on a bed of creamy polenta. I does not taste like a leftover.

  6. To be honest, I hate leftovers. With a few exceptions. Love using leftover Mexican to make Chilaquiles. And I'll roast an extra chicken just to have hot chicken sandwiches with homemade fries.

  8. Thanks for hosting. I actually linked up an entire post where I talked about how to make the most of your leftovers by repurposing them and turning them into something else.

  9. Pork Fried Rice is easy to make with some leftover rice and cooked pork. It could also be made with leftover cooked chicken or shrimp.

  11. Carole, I don't think I've posted any recipes using leftovers, but it's a great idea for a post! Like you, I hate wasting food. Especially meat - I figure some animal gave its life in order for me to have this roast (or whatever), so it would be obscene to waste it!

  16. Using up left overs is one of the themes of the newest Jamie book that I've been cooking from a lot lately. I've added two recipes, one using left over chicken and one using left over pork!

  19. I dig this theme, Carole. My leftovers tend to be an exact repeat of the previous meal. I'm not very creative in this area!
