Food on Friday: Ginger



 ON

This edition of Food on Friday is collecting all sorts of ideas for using fresh, powdered or crystallised ginger.


Fresh ginger goes well with:

Asian greens
Basil
Beef
Chicken
Chillies
Coconut milk
Coriander leaves
Crabs
Cumin
Duck
Eggplants/aubergines
Figs
Fish
Fish sauce
Garlic
Green beans
Kiwifruit
Lemongrass
Limes
Mint
Mushrooms

Rice vinegar
Rice wine
Shellfish
Soy sauce
Spring onions/scallions

Ground ginger goes well with:

Almonds
Aniseed
Brown sugar
Cinnamon
Cloves
Honey

Treacle

  5. Hi, Carole. I hope it's OK to have added my White Chocolate Almond Cookies to your list. They don't feature ginger, but there's ginger in them and it's a refreshing change to other White Chocolate Chip cookies I've made that are overly sweet. Thanks!

  34. Thanks for the invite. I've shared a stir fry recipe that was one of my personal favorites in 2012 - Spicy Garlic and Ginger Chicken with Green Beans. I'm lazy and use the ginger that comes pre-minced in a tube!

  35. Thanks for hosting Carole! I love ginger too. I posted a stir-fry we made recently with a Brown Garlic Sauce that had great ginger flavor. We also made homemade rice noodles. Just a tip. Chop equal parts ginger and garlic in the food processor and keep in the frig in a mason jar. Great for stir-fry, Indian dishes, and so much more.
