Food on Friday: Berries (and Currants)

ON

We are going to have a "berry" nice time this week creating a collection of recipes and ideas using all sorts of berries (including currants).

Types of berries – acai berry, bilberry, blackberry, blueberry, boysenberry, cloudberry, cranberry, currant, elderberry, goji berry, gooseberry, huckleberry, mulberry, raspberry, and, of course, strawberry.

According to Stephanie Alexander berries and currants go well with:

Amaretto Balsamic vinegar Brandy
Butter Chocolate Cointreau
Cream Crème fraiche Fresh white cheeses
Grand Marnier Ground almonds Honey
Ice-cream Kirsch Lemon juice
Light red wine Pastry Port
Sour cream Sugar

Update:  I have now created a Pinterest board for these links.  Click here if you would like to see it.

So put those links in via Mr Linky below.

  22. Here in the states, we or rather i can not get fresh currants and i love the taste (from planted tress or bushes rather), so i will use blueberries instead - not the same, but good neverthe less!
