Kate Sheppard

Kate Sheppard was born on this day in 1847.  She was one of the early pioneers for women in New Zealand being our most famous suffragette.  Because New Zealand was the first country to give all women the vote, she actually had a lot of international influence.  An image of her is on our $10 dollar note.

  1. I didn't know that New Zealand was the first country to give the women the vote. Very interesting. :) Thanks for sharing!

BTW, I'm having a giveaway over at my blog:

  2. I wonder where the Netherlands rates on giving women the vote. Maybe we were not so enlightened back then.
